Executive Director & Professor, Bioengineering Technology & Entrepreneurship Center at Boston University
Diane Joseph-McCarthy is the Executive Director of the Bioengineering Technology & Entrepreneurship Center and Professor of the Practice in Biomedical Engineering and Chemistry at Boston University. Prior to that, she was a life science executive with over 20 years of drug discovery, development, and leadership experience. She was SVP of Discovery & Early Development at EnBiotix, a bioengineering company focused on respiratory and rare disease. She was an Associate Director at AstraZeneca, where she led a global team in Predictive Science. At Wyeth, she held positions of increasing responsibility. Dr. Joseph-McCarthy is a fellow of the American Institute for Medical and Biological Engineering. She received her PhD from MIT and was a postdoctoral fellow at Harvard University/Harvard Medical School.

Abigail Lytton-Jean is the founding Scientific Director of NanoFIB at the Koch Institute for Integrative Cancer Research at MIT, where she leads the development of advanced imaging technologies for biological research. Her work focuses on innovative electron microscopy workflows that combine molecular specificity with nanoscale resolution to advance discoveries across biology and medicine. She earned her Ph.D. in Chemistry from Northwestern University and completed postdoctoral training at MIT under Professors Robert Langer and Daniel Anderson. Her research has been published in leading journals, including Nature, Science, Nature Biotechnology, and Nature Nanotechnology.

Daniel Bedinger, PhD is the Senior Manager of Application Science at Carterra, where he leads the global team and played a central role in launching and optimizing the LSA platform for high-throughput surface plasmon resonance (HT-SPR). With over two decades of experience in therapeutic monoclonal antibody discovery and characterization—including key roles at Xoma and Abgenix—he specializes in advanced kinetic screening, epitope binning, and biophysical characterization. Dr. Bedinger holds a Ph.D. in Cellular and Molecular Physiology from UC Davis.

Under her leadership, Pando Bioscience was also accepted into prominent startup incubators, including Y Combinator, Endless Frontier Labs, and Creative Destruction Labs. Pando utilizes AI and an ultra-high-throughput wet-lab screening platform to design novel enzymes for pharma manufacturing and life science tools, operating 75% faster and at an 80% lower cost than traditional methods.

Devan Shah is the Founder and CEO of RNAV8 Bio (“Renovate”), a biotechnology company focused on mRNA sequence engineering to improve therapeutic performance across rare and common diseases. His background spans healthcare finance, computational biology, and cell/gene therapy. Before launching RNAV8 Bio, Shah served as Founding Business Head of Nucleic Acids at National Resilience, led business development at Stanford Medicine’s CDCM, and held operational roles at 3Scan after beginning his career in healthcare investment banking and venture capital.
